Lithium intercalation mechanism of graphite
Graphite has good conductivity, high crystallinity, and a good layered structure, making it very suitable for the repeated insertion and removal of lithium ions. It is currently the most widely used and technologically mature negative electrode material. After lithium ions are embedded into the interlayer of graphite, a lithium intercalation compound LixC6 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) is formed, with a theoretical capacity of 372mAh/g (x=1). The reaction formula is: xLi++6C+xe - → LixC6
